The Binghampton Development Corporation (BDC) is a faith-based non-profit community development corporation working to improve the quality of life in the Binghampton community. Since July 2003, the BDC has pursued a strategy to support the revitalization of this historic neighborhood through housing, economic development and empowerment programs for those plagued by issues of systemic poverty.
The BDC Business Hub is hiring batches of job trainees seeking on-the-job soft and hard skills development. Program participants will be employed for a period of 90 days. The job trainee positions are full time (30 - 40 hrs per week) with approximately 4 of those hours set aside for work readiness skills training in a classroom environment. Upon completion of the program, the BDC will work with graduates to refer and/or place them in a permanent job or further training opportunity in a field of their choosing. Some trainees may qualify for participation in a 12-month long apprenticeship track after the completion of the 90-day program.

Key Responsibilities:
- On time reporting for work.
- Participates as a member of trainee team during their 5 day per week assignment, which may vary week to week and include warehouse material handling operations and commodity disassembly & recycling (tires, lights, mattresses), general construction or landscaping tasks.
- Actively participate in approximately 4 hours per week of classroom training sessions and 1 on 1 goal setting and mentoring time.
- Must be able to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time and lift items up to 75 lbs as required.
Qualifications:
- At least 18 years old.
- Must pass a drug screening upon hiring
- Collaborates well with people of different races, backgrounds, experiences, and educational levels.
